With a 7.1.4 is it truly better to use bookshelves due to the Atmos or would the di/bi poles be better for the side speakers? Listening area is 12.5 wide by 8 deep.

Hey Dallas, monopole only for Atmos surround sound tracks. It is specified in the Atmos literature. The reason why is because Atmos and DTS:X require precise imaging, but dipoles and bipoles type surrounds smear the surround sound stage all over the place in an effort to create more ambient sound, but that blurs out any precise location for sound objects in mixes like Atmos.
