amp or sub problem?

I have an elemental designs eD-300 subwoofer box. I've had it for about 6 to 7 years. When sounds starts to play, it sounds muddy and whufly. Really odd and very off. After a quick short while, the plate amp will go to standby, and won't wake up, like it's in protection mode. So, I dont know if it's an issue with the sub driver making the amp do this or if the anp is on its way out.

With our the amp hooked to the sub, it turns on and goes to standby as normal.

Thanks everyone.

What do you mean when you say "our amp hooked to the sub"?

1)What is "our amp"?
2)With this amp, does the subwoofer perform as expected? (with movies and music?)

Try to change to a new audio cable? Might be time for a replacement. Have you called their customer service? maybe they can repair out of warranty, hey ya never know.

Apologies. Typing on phone isn't easy for me.

I meant the amp.

2) not at all. It used to be a strong bass thump sound, no longer the case. Muddy, distorted sound. I can try another cable. I tried two cables I already had but same issue. It was only one shirt stint where it operated normally but amp went to standby mode with the red light on. When it works, it stays lot green
