Check out www.hsuresearch.com, they have a few good subs in your range. The VTF2-Mk3 is right at the top of your range, but would be an excellent choice for you. www.svsound.com might also have some subs in your price range that would be excellent choices. I'm sure others will second these and come up with a couple of extra choices as well. Good luck!

The fronts and center should match. The surrounds and/or sub do not need to match.

These are both great subs:

SVS PB10-NSD ($429 retail)

Hsu VTF-2 MK 3 ($499 retail)

No need to match brands between your sub and your speakers. There are a lot of brands out there for subs, and my friends and I are happy with our subs that are all different brands - SVS, Aperion, Infinity, and Polk. I have no experience with Hsu, but I've read quite a few recommendations for them.

Personally, I sucked it up last year and bought an SVS PC-Ultra. I am extremely happy with it. My experience with SVS customer service has been first rate, and I'll recommend them without hesitation.
