Advice needed: Yamaha RX-V671 or RX-V771?

Hey guys, i'm looking to purchase a new 3D compatible AV receiver to replace my RX-V765, i'm currently running on a set of Yamaha NS-555/NS-333/NS-C444 speakers

I'm wondering which receiver should i get to best drive my set of speakers, i'm concerned that the V671 will not be able to drive my speakers well since the speaker's specs states 100w under nominal and the V671 only churns out 90w.

I have no plans to add a pre-amp or a second subwoofer so my primary concern is with sound quality, my local dealer said that the V771's 5w additional output wattage translates to 10-20% of audio quality improvement over the V671, is that true?

please shed some light on which AV receiver is the better choice for me, thanks for your help!!

They would be fine.

He just made that up.

I would suggest getting the RX-A700 or RX-A800 since they can be had for dirt cheap on amazon right now instead of the 671 or 771.

Hi, thanks for your input,
the RX-A800 does seem like a great choice, the only problem is that i do not reside in the U.S. and we're using a 220-240v power instead of 110v, i do not mind getting a step down transformer for the receiver and ship it to my country as even after shipping it's a hell lot cheaper than the V671 but i'm unsure if it'll negatively impact on it's audio performance and/or reliability.

Ah. Unfortunately I have no idea what could happen/what possible downsides there are when using a step down transformer. Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable or experienced than I can chime in on that part.

It will work fine. I've done it before with a Sony AV receiver for many years which I imported to Europe from the USA.

To OP:
I think your speakers are good for their budget, but besides support for 3d you're not going to get better sound. Speaker is what you should be looking to change if audio quality if a priority

Speaking of speakers - you didn't mention a sub. Do you have one?

If 3D support is a feature that you must have, then A800 is the way to go, otherwise I'll the old avr and look to upgrade sub/speakers/room treatments
