Hi guys,
I am shopping for a pair of headphones $200 or under. I really can't go past that. I listen to all sorts of music, but mainly blues, jazz blues, classic rock and jazz. I want a good all around headphone. I do not like very 'bassey' headphones, my thinking is if the developer intended there to be a lot of bass, he would have put more in. Comfort is also a big factor for me. So far I am considering the:
Audio Technica ATH-M50x
Sennheiser hd 598 (I found them for under $200)
and the Beyerdynamic dt-880 pro (I also found those for under 200)
Don't bother with ATH---very much over-rated in my opinion, and specifically there is something in the mid-bass region that is "not right". I think a lot of reviewers mistake that for "good bass response". After I bought my Senn 598, I sold my M50x.
Senn 598 are awesome! But, they do not dig as deep as many other cans. In general, I prefer my AKG 845BT phones overall (and yes, the BT function sounds good). That brings up another brand for you--AKG. Personally, I've really been looking at the Quincy Jones versions lately.
I have no experience with any Beyers, but several members here own them and love them.
Also, check out RBH. If this was my $200 budget and I needed a set of cans, I would probably buy these today, but I have not heard them. I do have 2 sets of the RBH BT ear buds and they are fantastic. And, RBH customer service is unbeatable.
