I am currently running a 7.1 setup with 6,7 being mid height channels very top of wall facing down toward listener. I just upgraded to a new receiver that has Dolby Atmos and DTS:X . I am thinking of removing the two mid height channels and moving to 2 mid ceiling speakers. In your opinion is this a good move ? I am concerned that I may loose something when playing movies with Dolby Digital 7.1 which is more main stream at them moment. not sure if moving the speakers in a couple feet and putting them in ceiling firing down would make will make much difference anyway . I have a Denon AVR-710w so I don't have any more channels to just simply add ceiling speakers.

I wasn't impressed with Atmos when I heard it in a new theater. It's possible that my brain wasn't processing overhead information as expected because it just sounded like surround sound to me. I would stay with 7.1.
