2 amplifiers with 1 subwoofer?

Hi All,

I have both a TV and a desktop computer set up on a corner desk in my room, each with their own set of speakers and amp. Is it possible to hook both of those systems up to one subwoofer? One amp would connect to the line level inputs on the sub and the other amp would connect to the speaker level inputs on the sub.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think that would be a good idea. Depending on how the subwoofer amplifier is designed it may send voltage back through one input or the other to the equipment not being used, which may damage it.

I think that if I did that, then I would run each connection through a double pole switch. Always flip the switch off for the input that you are not using at the time.

If you forget to flip the switch and have both hooked up, then you are back to the same problem noted above

So, bottom line, it might work but it might be risky.
