12v trigger wiring help

I am trying to make the 12v trigger wire for my projector to electric screen. I purchased the bare 3.5mm mono jack but I am unsure as to which terminal suppose to be red which suppose to be black or the order matters.

Check your manual to be sure but usually the tip is positive and the sleeve is negative. So you would connect the negative wire to the sleeve's connection on the back which is the larger one. If your soldering an end on both sides of the cable it really doesnt matter which one goes where as long as you do the same on the other side.

that is 100% correct. tip is positive, sleeve is negative.
