Mitsubishi introduced five new 1080p-capable DLP HDTVs at its national dealer line show. Mitsubishi's WD-52627 (52-inch), WD-62627 (62-inch), WD-52628 (52-inch), WD-62628 (62-inch) and WD-73727 (73-inch) all boast 1920 x 1080p pixel resolution and Mitsubishi's proprietary Dark Detailer light engine technology for excellent contrast and black levels. All five models come with Plush1080p, Mitsubishi's third-generation upconversion system updated for 1080i-to-1080p deinterlacing. These new models have two HDMI inputs, three component video inputs and a nine-format memory card reader. All of these HDTVs are also Digital Cable Ready with CableCARD and have front panel IEEE 1394 inputs with DV decoder to allow easy playback from digital video camcorders.
Any word on the prices for these units? Also,if you will excuse my ignorance, what current sources are there that provide a 1080P signal? IOW, is HD from the CBTV & dish companies set at 720P right now or have we just been limited to 720P/1080i by the existing lineup of HDTV sets available?
Thanks..........

There are no current 1080p signals. The plan is for future formats (HDDVD, Blu*Ray) that are 1080p. And the set could also upconvert current 1080i (HD cable, DVHS) much like EDTVs upconvert DVD's 480i to 480p

Home Theater PCs and Windows Media Player HD can send out 1080p - that's about it for now. Personally, this is a cool thing as it opens up the TV to handle future formats - but you won't find 1080p DVD players or cable/satellite yet.

Where did you find the press release--I could not find on their web page---i am interested on what their new LCD and Plasma flat panels are going to be like.
So do these sets ACCEPT 1080P or they convert everything to 1080P? It was unclear to me in the press release. There are not too many sets that accept 1080P yet.

Ditto! That's what I want to know above anything else. Does it accept 1080p/24 or is it just another set that is 1080p that accepts anything BUT 1080p? I am tired of played out marketers designing video gear instead of letting video and A/V specialists make the gear.
