so i've been considering getting one to be used for Blu-ray/CD's/Music/DVD and games, what are some cool benefits of using it? can it stream pandora radio also? note that my receiver only supports traditional Dolby Digital and DTS. can this be output on it? and does it have a regular coax digital out? for some reason i can't get toslink to function on my receiver, i think its a bad cable though im not sure.

You can install media servers on your pc and stream content to the PS3, I have also used the crappy browser to access pandora, then set it as a bookmark, but I wish there were better support for pandora, or slacker, or last.fm or some streaming music service in the form of a built in app like the xbox 360 has. It's definitely the way to go if you want more functionality than just a stand alone blu ray player, plus with the ability to stream netflix and whatever features they will add in the future.

You can surf porn on it and play BD, what more would you need?

The PS3 has optical output, no coaxial. Try a different cable.

You didnt ask for any negatives of using a ps3 has a media component, but I'll give you one. It's a pain to try and get the ps3 working with a universal remote. Theres no IR receiver on the ps3, so you need to get a 3rd party IR receiver and then have your remote learn the remote codes of the 3rd party thingy you just bought.

The PS3 works great with the Harmony adapter and Harmony remote.

Get a cheap monoprice cable. I've yet to have one of those go bad.

Did that come out recently? I dont remember seeing those when I was looking at remote options for it. It wouldnt have mattered though because it was my roommates ps3, and he wouldnt have bought it to make our lives easier cause hes so cheap.

Harmony came out with the adapter last year, nothing worse than a cheap roommate, they drink all the good beer and replace it with the cheap stuff.:D

It's been out for a while, it works great and it's nice since it can turn the PS3 on and off. But for a cheap solution, the Nyko Blue Wave remote with the IR adapter works well too, works good with the harmony also.

Yep the wife replaces it when she drinks it, but I like Hacker-Pschorr beer and for some reason she replaces it with Hamm's. The only thing with the Nyko it won't turn the PS3 on but other than that it's a good a remote for the price.

For this offense you can't post anything for one week and must offer penance to the audio gods.:D

Wow. Just, wow. I can't believe you actually admitted that.

I'm surprised you were able to hook up the cable with the covers still attached.
