    Just one piece left.

Might be stating the obvious here, but a 5/2 setup would allow you more flexibility should you choose to listen to music in a 2-channel configuration. Emotiva XPA-5 or Rotel 1075/1095 would be a good place to start for the center and surrounds. That would allow you a healthy budget for the 2...

Any experience, preference, or input regarding the these three amps? Peachtree 220 - i like the idea of staying with Class D amps b/c of efficiency and my electric bill. B&K 7250 - class A Acurus 200x3 I think the AVR (SC-55) should be capable driving the center and rears for HT (hence the...

Hey guys, curious if you have any experience or input regarding Bryston or Aragon amplifiers. Specifically these models: Bryston 3B-ST or 4B (gen 2) Aragon 4004, 8008x3 I had the chance to hook up the speakers to a tube amp this weekend (Melody H300B). The unit is rated at 8.8 watts...

assuming i understand what you're saying, what specs can be sought out in the amplification specs to determine whether or not the unit is a good match with the speakers? Are phase angle details published in any of the amp/speaker literatures?

Which Emotiva amp for stereo listening?

Thanks for all the great input guys. I'm going to look for an XPA-3 to drive the front LCR. Depending on how happy I am with the setup, I may add a 2 channel amp to drive the front LR and rededicate the XPA-3 to drive the center and surrounds. Found these on local craigslist. Any...

Which Emotiva amp for stereo listening?

okay now that we've gotten the mono vs multi channel debacle out of the way. How do i determine how much power i need to my speakers before SQ benefits diminish? The XPA-3 makes sense but another but the larger power supply and another 100wpc in the XPA-2 is awfully tempting. That and i'm not...

Will the Pioneer Elite SC-79 Receiver with HDBaseT work with my 4 OHM Martin Logan Speaker

First off, sick gear! The SC-79 would work, but if you plan on listening to your system at higher volumes, I would save some coin and get an AVR to use purely as a the processor and get separate amps to drive the speakers.

At the time I was planning on building my system, I was looking to get 683 or CM9's but came across an ad on Craigslist for a set of 803s'. After a a 2.5 hour drive to pickup, I was staring at a pair of 804s. I was rather disappointed but the seller adjusted his asking price accordingly. I...

Which Emotiva amp for stereo listening?

Do you ever sleep? Thanks for taking the time to explain the benefits of a monoblock vs stereo amp. How much difference does 50WPC make (xpa-100 = 250wpc, xpa-2=300wpc)? I'd like to take the ignorant approach where more is better! Is the bigger difference here in the power supply...

Which Emotiva amp for stereo listening?

The XPA-100 appears to be a competent mono amp. Is there a particular reason why the popularity of it hasn't gone up? On paper it seems to beat out the Outlaw 2200 in nearly every regard and a price point less than $600 for a pair. What's the benefit of monoblocks? why is it more desirable?

Which Emotiva amp for stereo listening?

For 2 channel listening at moderate levels, sound and imaging are fairly good driven by the SC-55. I auditioned these As I increase the volume, I notice the sound begin to thin and less direct. I suspect more power to the speakers would yield positive results as I've read the 804s' demand quite...
