MartinLogan XT F100 Floorstanding Speaker Review!

No doubt. I’m a little curious if / how often I hit clipping levels. I had an Onyko TX-SR707 years back that was a little furnace pushing a 5 channel Klipsch setup. I added a couple fans on top of it to alleviate that issue.

MartinLogan XT F100 Floorstanding Speaker Review!

For entertainment value, I ran a little test with my "home alone" rig this morning. Speakers are KEF R3 Metas, which are 4-ohm nominal and have an EDPR that hits 2 ohms in a few spots; their sensitivity is nothing to brag about either, at ~86dB w/ 2.83V. Amplification is courtesy of the NAD M10...

MartinLogan XT F100 Floorstanding Speaker Review!

It shouldn't really be news to anyone. If you buy a 4-ohm rated speaker, you should have amplification designed for a 4-ohm rated speaker. You're designing / building a system, not just playing mix and match.

    RTJ Audio 18Sub Subwoofer Review

I don’t know about that. The Klipsch RP-1600SW James reviewed recently also appears to have a HPF. Its rolloff is certainly steeper than 24dB/octave. The RBH SX 1212P/R and XTZ 3X12 measured by Josh Ricci also used HPFs. Who said anything about audible musical signals? Movie soundtracks can...

Why do processors need ANY video hookups?

Ultimately people want what they want; who am I to judge? I’ve reverted to a stereo rig from surround, as opposed to going immersive, and I’m happy. It’s not a choice a lot of audio enthusiasts would make, but if it works for me, what do I care?

Why do processors need ANY video hookups?

Perhaps something like this is what Tony is looking for? Note, it doesn’t decode Dolby / DTS, and the TV would have to do that and output PCM via eARC.

    RTJ Audio 18Sub Subwoofer Review

There is definitely some content out there that can cause problems, even for a sub with an F3 of 20Hz or a little below that. The intro to Edge of Tomorrow comes to mind as being particularly brutal. AFAIK SVS still uses a HPF on their vented subs as one example. Of course, there are other ways...

    Wilson LōKē @ Stereophile

Pass :p Truth be told, I don’t think I could match Jason’s talent as a bullshit artist on a consistent basis. I’d be at a loss without some sort of grounding in reality.

    Wilson LōKē @ Stereophile

This may be one of my favorite reviews to date... The subject, a Wilson Audio subwoofer boasting a "modest" $8,950 price tag, 10" driver, and 500W amp from Dayton Audio. Well it's good to know we're hearing from an expert on the subject, as opposed to some know-nothing hack... I for one am...

Would you notice a difference with a sub having 106db SPL at 20hz vs. A sub with 96db spl at 20hz at low listening levels in a small room?

FWIW, I recently redid one of my systems with a pair of KEF R3 Metas and a Rythmik F12SE (similar to a SB2000). I’m in a huge room and listen at high levels. The saving grace is that like you, I sit quite close. The Rythmik isn’t disappointing, with either music or movies. In my case, I didn’t...

Integrating the Rythmik was remarkably pain free. Initially set for 28Hz extension, high (Q=0.5) damping, no rumble filter, and a 100Hz XO with the R3 Metas. A broad PEQ -5dB filter centered at 28Hz was all the EQ I really felt the need to apply. Left FR / IR with sub Right FR / IR with sub

So…poop went down with the DM customs. No, I don’t want to talk about it. Now replaced with KEF R3 Metas and a Rythmik F12SE to cover 100Hz on down. I’m over my loss :p
