    Bye Netflix

Amazing! A guy starts as thread about Netflix and foreign films and TV and the first responses are attacks. "So you cancelled Netflix because they also produce content for people that are not you?" "Don't watch it if you don't like it." "but to be a drama queen about it, meh" Why did you...

JBL Black Friday deals: Studio 590s: $450 each shipped, Studio 520: $180 shipped

They'vs shipped already, via UPS, and it'll be interesting to see how they handle those huge cartons. Several otheers have complained abut shipping damage. We'll see? Yeah, I'll happily write my impressions of them when I wrestle them into their final position in the media room. From 1982 until...

JBL Black Friday deals: Studio 590s: $450 each shipped, Studio 520: $180 shipped

I couldn't stop myself! Ordered the 590s ($899pr) Friday and the 520c (($180) yesterday. These are at or near these prices often but if they're discontinued????????????? And the free returns until February pushed me over the edge. If I like them and keep them I'll be driving them with my Crown...

    Which - Klipsch RP-150M or RP-280F

I guess it's time to admit to you fellows (very embarrassed - with egg on my face) that I've never heard a Klipsch speaker. My loudspeaker Chronology is: 1. Bose 901s: long ago - before most of you were born. I never really liked their sound. They did fill the end of the room with sound but it...

    Which - Klipsch RP-150M or RP-280F

Thanks, Gentlemen, I'll order the RP-160Ms first, just to hear Klipsch in my room and compared to the MLs, and exchange them for the RP-260s if I feel it's necessary. I'd far prefer stand-mounted speakers, crossed to the subs under 80Hz, and they're far easier to return if inadequate.

    Which - Klipsch RP-150M or RP-280F

Ha! A fixed-incomer and a certified cheapskate. My side and back surrounds are Polk 15s ($50/pr.)

    Which - Klipsch RP-150M or RP-280F

First - I'm an old guy - I'm 80! While I like surround for home theater I listen to classical, jazz and rock (OLD ROCK!) music only in stereo. My room is around 3,000', I use a Denon AVR-3313i AVR and I've used Martin Logan Motion 12s as my primary speakers. I've no problem with these, other...

Better than Plex for my purposes!?!

I've burned all of my classical music collection to flac and am happy with the sound quality. I've installed and, after a lot of fiddling, find Plex to be merely okay for my purposes. I use my own local media assets and don't really want any help from an agent, like last.fm. In other words, my...

Common Mistakes When Setting Up a Home Theater System

Good, common sense article. And, elwaylite, that's a nice setup! I suspect we all buy according to what we can afford, although we do lust after higher-end stuff. I wanted higher-priced Martin Logans but the budget couldn't handle it. When I found my Motion 12s for $400 I jumped on them...

Why I choose Bluray over streaming

I watch a lot of streaming movies and TV shows through my local cable company/ISP. Quality varies according to the day and time with Sunday PM the worst. Even in the best case scenario it never equals Blu Ray. If a movie is a favorite (most aren't these days) I'll invariably buy it. If it's a...

Blu Ray replacement for an Oppo 983?

I've owned the Oppo 983 for about 6 or 7 years and it's stll going strong, a fantastic player that I use for everything but Blu Ray, including region 2 PAL dvds. I am, because of it's age, becoming a bit worried about it finally failing. I also have an old Panasonic BD30 for my Blu Rays and...
