Need help with a turn table.

Do you want new or would you be willing to look at used equipment? I believe for your budget you could get a really nice Dual or (maybe) Garrard TT for about 25/30% of your budget. That would leave the rest of the budget to upgrade your stylus and/or the whole headshell, if needed. I just set up...

I Bought the Speakers, Need Help With DAC

Does the pro audio interface have a dac on board? If it does then that would appear to be the solution but if it does not, then you will still be using your on board sound card with its dac. I recently bought the odac and cdac from audio poutine on facebook. Couldnt believe the difference in...

Soundstage Stage 80 just started to hum

I ordered a replacement Dayton plate amp (SA100). Installed it this morning, with a few minor mods to the cabinet and its better than the original which did give up. Additionally, I also bought a Pioneer SW-8MK2 which is all I need for now I figure.

Soundstage Stage 80 just started to hum

OK, here is the end of this saga. Turns out I was trying to connect it wrong. Although I found and read the manual, I guess I didnt understand that the pre out to rca in, on the sub, is different than the rca out on my integrated amp and I SHOULD have been using the speaker level in/out only, or...

Soundstage Stage 80 just started to hum

In another thread, we already established that I have a good enough mix of speakers lying around; Celestion, Mission, JBL and Fisher, that I really only need be looking for an AVR and Sub to get me started.

Soundstage Stage 80 just started to hum

I dont know what ported or sealed means. I can remove the amp and see the speaker, which faces the floor. There is a tube running to back of the cabinet, open end inside the cabinet, so I guess thats a port. When powered up, the hum is coming from that speaker, not the amp as I first thought...

Help needed to expand my PC based 2.0 audio to HT setup.

I have an HDMI out to my TV from the PC. I share my TV screen with my PC. I use Plex or simply drag a VLC media player window to the TV and watch a movie with sound coming from just the TV. I have no other speakers or receiver. I want to be able to create a surround sound system based around...

Soundstage Stage 80 just started to hum

I thought I was done. TLS Guy you mentioned building a sub and I thought that was beyond my capabilities until I came across some info regarding same. So, rather than building another Sub, could I "just" replace the amp plate? Something like this...

Please elaborate, any and all info is helpful. I am still trying to figure out if there is a difference between a sub for music listening and one for audio in a movie.

Help needed to expand my PC based 2.0 audio to HT setup.

Also. Looking at whats around, what type of sub do I want to be getting. So far I have not seen any receivers that show anything other than a single rca input. How does a powered sub work in my situation? The two I messed with at the weekend were both powered....were they not for home...

Help needed to expand my PC based 2.0 audio to HT setup.

Nice. I visit a lot of homes with movie theaters installed, but rarely do they appear to be used. Its just something to put in the home building plans (lots of oilfield money around here). So there is plenty of money spent but not, in my opinion, much thought gone into the system, at least not...

Help needed to expand my PC based 2.0 audio to HT setup.

Chatting with my Son on the way home I realised my attempt to cover both options (audio and HT from my PC was going to be futile. He and I could build a HTPC. He has put together a very good gaming system and I built my work station PC but I believe you are correct. Its just plain easier to run...

Help needed to expand my PC based 2.0 audio to HT setup.

I have auditioned them and I believe I will be OK with them, thanks. As for connection, the dac went from the usb on my pc via an rca piggyback from the sony straight to the sub then I figured out that I have to run speaker wire back to my Sony amp from the sub and from it to the speakers...
