I would think a vast majority of us have only heard a sliver of the available loudspeakers that are available today. I have heard most but not all of the poll speakers and several that are not on the list. Also, value needs to be considered. I've heard some 6k speakers that sound better than 12k...

I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd chime in. I was lucky enough to pick up a like new pair of 7t's about a year ago and have since added Aerial sides and surrounds. They are fantastic speakers and I can honestly say for the first time I feel no need to upgrade, ever.

I have had a def tech bi-polar setup in 3 different rooms over the past 5 years. They do need room to breathe but properly set up in an average size or larger room they sound very good. I am also a fan of sv subs. I got an excellent deal on a used 25-31 pci and it blends so well with my system...

There are so many verables in the answer to your question. What is you budget; room size; how much stereo listering versus ht; prefer tower or book shelf???......

I can only speak for the bi-poles I own. They are definitive technology bp2002tl's. They actually "tune" the rear drivers differently from the front ones and do extensive real world (rather than computer) accoustic testing. I find them to have a large but well defined soundstage. Every review...

so long as they are still covered by a warrenty it should be ok. Turn the volume down and put your ear close to each driver, front and back, to make sure they are all playing. I have def tech's and are very happy with them.

Some music hooks me right away but others grow on me. Some is crap right off and stays that way. I am still getting in to the new cold play, slowly growing on me. I am A big tears for fears fan and the "happy ending" cd took a while to get into but now is one of my favorites.

Anything Steely dan or Fagan/Becker ever did or produced is brilliant.
