right and left Toe in???

I have my right and left fronts set straight as it seems to look better. But should they actually be toed in? My couch is actually not centered with my set up either. Its ogg to the right at an angle. So while I have a thread about my center placement I figured why not see if I need to toe in my towers a few degrees, flip over my center to angle up 4 degrees and then re run the MCACC on my elite.
SO my question is toe in always recommended?

Why don't you try it, and tell us what you think.

While you're at it, I highly recommend experimenting with the distance of the speakers from the sidewalls, and front wall as well.

In my very limited experiences, I've always preferred having the speakers with a considerable amount of distance from the front wall, most likely due to any specific SBIR.

As for typical monopole speakers, I've also normally enjoyed a somewhat aggressive toe-in. However, I believe toe-in and any possible effects that may give are dependent on the speaker itself as well.

IMO, there's only one way to find out: Try.

otherwise, an expert I trust would say that the axes of the speakers would cross right in front of your face. Try that as a starting point.

If I make the axis cross in front of my face then only the left would have toe in. the other is right at my face exactly at the center of the couch. here is a image...NEVERMIND THE MESS. lol I moved myplasma tv today by myself and re hung it. The damn thing is heavy and was hard to hang with one person but I got it done. I thought maybe this pic would help anyone with suggestions.

If it works out aesthetically, I'd try to pull the farther speaker a bit closer to you, to make them a bit more equidistant. YMMV.

Honestly, I don't care if it doesn't look appealing if it sounds correct.

Based on that pic, your speakers are way too close to the wall immediately behind them.

I understand, perfectly.

That's why experimentation is your friend. You will eventually find the perfect balance between all things.

Ok, I suppose it is possible that there could* be such a disparity between what you find as the best positioning, and aesthetics, that you will have to move something only for critical listening sessions.

I am out of time for the moment, have to run, but will check back soonish.

Anyways, with the above in mind, if you want to move stuff for critical sessions, it may be easiest just to move the couch. My brother does that at his place. At my place, I put up a 30 lbs acoustical treatment propped on the back of my couch on the sidewall for critical listening in my asymmetrical room.

I just measured and my speakers are 6 1/4" from the wall. but they line up perfect with my center channel now. They were 3 inches from the wall in that pic. So now my center is flipped. Time to rum the MCACC on my elite.

Another thing is, it can take just a few inches of movement and a few degrees of toe to make a very noticeable difference. Experiment away! It took me about 2 weeks to dial in the positioning of my speakers.

would it make sense to toe in my left speaker which would aim it away from the center seating position? right now as it sits it points directly at center of the couch.
