Stock price 30 cents a share? Down from $7 plus...Not good. I bought my TV there, but my extended warranty is with G.E. Thank Goodness.

Circuit City is shutting down 155 of its wost-performing stores and will, as a concurrent result, lay off around 7200 employees or 17 percent of its total workforce. The company is trying desperately to restructure its corporate structure, though at best it seems more like a controlled shut-down as the corporate machine attempts to salvage the company from an all-but collapsed stock market position.

Poor old CC. My condolences.
They recently bought out the Canadian version of Radio Shack - which through a strange twist of corporate buy-outs had become a different company that the American Radio Shack.
I wonder if The Source in Canada will see some closures?
Not that it matters much to me as a customer. If want solder, switches, contact cleaner etc I go an electronics shop. The actual consumer electronics at Source is pretty bare-bones.
Weird name, The Source. Makes me think of some pseudo-mystic power.
Man 1: "Nice radio - where'd you get it?"
Man 2: "I got it at - The Source!" Both men look up at the sky in wonderment.
Thats too bad. The last time I set foot in a CC the service people were complete idiots and I left, never to return. The end.
It does suck people are going to lose their jobs right before the holidays.

Here is what I heard. If you local store is open tomorrow (Nov. 4th) then it is not closing. If it is closed then that means they are repricing everything for the closing sale that begins Nov. 5th.
A 'phile and his money are soon parted.

You can find the list of stores closing here. Sad. I feel for the people losing their jobs just as the holidays are coming up.

Wow. Both of the ones in Tucson are staying open...for now. Surprising. I guess business must be good enough here.

My local CC is on the list of closing stores. It opened less than a year ago. A shame really, it has better people than the more established store up North. Ah well. So it goes. Recessions are never pretty.
Not one store closing within driving distance! No sales for me.
Definitely a bad deal... you'd think they could'va waiting until January. I know, business never stops.
