Default Need help picking Blu Ray player, thinking about Pioneer Elite: thoughts?

Looking for a new Bluray player and came across one of these for $249 http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU....BDP-31FD.Kuro

250 is the upper range of what I want to drop on a blu ray player and I don't know if this one would be any better than an LG/Panasonic/etc. for about 150.

    any thoughts?

I'll put in a vote for Sony's BDP-S570. It's available for around $200, more or less, and I have been completely pleased with it. It has all the usual connectivity options, the audio and video quality are excellent, it plays SACDs, menus are easy to understand and it has links to lots of stuff on the web, although a lot of the web media are pretty much junk. I have been down on Sony for a while but this one redeemed them.

I looked for quite awhile and really wish I bought this one 1. Panasonic DMP-BD85 it can be had for about 150.00 on A and blows away the competition by far with load times and extra's, I think it's a great deal. here is a link to read more about it and some others :http://bluray-players.net/top-10-blu-ray-players/

I've owned a number of Panasonics and I'll have to second that recommendation. If you don't need the multichannel analog outs, get the BD65 instead as it is even cheaper.

I think so. I don't spend much time with the on-line content, which is generally dreadful, but tonight I noticed that the latest upgrade included a new Hulu icon. When I get a chance, I'll check it out.

I purchased the even older BD-35 and it has worked flawlessly using it quite abit for both movies and music. No complaints except SACD would have been a nice feature.

What does it take to make the BD-85 region free?

    Thanks in advance.
