Hmmm... I´ve never heard of them before. I like the way the unit looks, and judging from the picture and posted specs it should be great. If its performance is acceptable and its reliability is superior to that, then I think they got a great product.

I've never heard of Axion. From the Specs and description of the DVD Player, it looks like something that is perfect for most families that are "On-the-go". I really like the dual headphone outputs, which are great so BOTH brother and sister can have their own headphones and you wouldn't have to worry about buying an adapter. Overall, I'm very interested in this Axion DVD Player.

Looks nice, but I've never watched videon on such a small screen....Anyone have something similar that they can describe how "viewable" it is?

04-01-2005, 10:44 AM
I think it's a really nice looking machine. A 7" screen is just about the right size, and I agree that the dual headphones out is a great feature. That plus the fact that my girlfriend is strongly hinting that she is dying for one of these in the near future makes me the obvious deserving recipient of this prize. ;) On a serious note though if the staff of audioholics gives this product the thumbs up I will short list it for the gift even if I don't win. I also went to Axion's website to look up more specs on this product and to see what else they make. I think that the ACN-6150 looks pretty sweet and is less than $500 at ecost.

so what is a "high resolution" screen? DVD resolution I assume?

I have purchased an Axion LCD TV before - it has been 2 years now - and is still working fine - for such a low price for a durable LCD TV - I'd say Axion did a pretty good job...btw, I just logged onto their website www.axiontv.com

Seems like they are giving away a 20" LCD Combo for a contest or sth...check it out :) I wish I win both :D

I'v already got a Polaroid portable that was given to me while in the hospital, but it actually overheats and poops out (sorry for the obscure technical jargon) when viewed for too long (Lord of the Rings DVD's cannot be watched in a single sitting!). Therefore, I wouldn't mind trying a new one at no expense to me. Thank you, Axion, whoever you are.

Didn't think I'd need something like this cause I take my laptop on business trips anyway, but I've learned that a laptop is too big to watch movies on in the cramped spaces that pass for coach these days. I've almost had it broken several times by someone reclining their seat in front of me. This looks like a perfect size for airplanes - not too big, not too small.

Looks very cool. Can't get enough of DVDs, me. I wonder how long the rated battery life on this gadget is. It would be nice if it played CD-R/RWs, but oh well. The resolution is 720 by 480, which is DVD resolution, I think. Pretty light at 1.62 pounds -- hope it's got all the necessary inside stuff. Would still love to win it, of course!

I heard this product from this website (www. audioholics.com). This company is selling their speakers directly to customers with 30-day satisfaction and free shipping.

[Actually that's Axiom Audio (http://banners.audioholics.com/phpAdsNew/adclick.php?log=no&bannerid=43&zoneid=&source=&dest=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.myaffiliateprogram.com%2Fu%2 Fspeakers%2Fb.asp%3Fid%3D1171%26sub%3D728sb%26p%3D epic60.html), a different company. - Clint.]

I saw Axion at CES 2005. They had a very busy booth with some nice products. I still have one of their CES Aloha bags LOL. One of my friends loaned me an Axion 8" LCD TV with a slot-in DVD player for a trip last Christmas. The kids loved it, because they could watch movies and plug in PS2 for gaming. It also had a car adapter which was awesome for the long drive.

My son's birthday is coming up. I want to get him that portable DVD player. Please pick me!

They have this unit at Target.com with a cool case and free shipping:
http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-5/qid=/ref=sr_1_5/602-2095003-4415861?%5Fencoding=UTF8&asin=B00073JU1U

It's also on sale at eCost right now. Great deal!
http://www.ecost.com/ecost/ecsplash/shop/detail.asp?dpno=646970

Hopefully, I'll get it for free though.

This looks great, and at a great price. How long is the battery life, though? I can't find this info. anywhere. I have seen generic external batteries, and I'm wondering if that would be useful (say, if on a long plane flight).

I'd be interested in any review of this product. It looks like a lot of features at this price-point.

i actually got this exact model, because it was under $150. so far I can't complain. I got it for the girlfriend and her son. so far they havent broke it. The speakers are really weak but thats what headphones are for. I just invested $3 in a headphone Y-cable so 2 headphones can be hooked up and BAM!! all is fine.
