I will be using a Yamaha RX-V2600 inside the house. I will be using 2 KLIPSCH AW-650's for my left and right channel. I also wanted to buy 1 KLIPSCH AW-800-SW to give me more bass. I didn't want to spend alot of money on separate amps. I was looking at buying the Yamaha AX-497. It is set up for 4 speakers.
How do I hook up the subwoofer. If I use the left or the right channel won't I be missing bass. I'm confused and could use advice.

Sub connections

Not exactly which sinerio you are trying to achieve:

If you want to connect 2 subs which are both in the same room as the receiver, get an RCA "Y" splitter and connect 1 RCA cable to each sub.

If you want to connect a sub to speaker in a different room or zone, run the speaker wires from the amp to a sub with speaker level inputs. Connect the speaker level outputs from the sub to the speakers in the same room. If a volume control is involved, place it upstream from the subwoofer.

You'll need two Klipsch subs to do what you want.

You're probably better off just picking up a powered sub with the required inputs.

When you getthe correct subwoofer, like the other guy hinted at, split the two line level signals with a pair of "Y" connectors and feed them to the sub's line level inputs. ...or use it's speaker level inputs if it has 'em.

.....bravo, we're thinking signal-path now......

These are passive subs ...no amps. Different rules apply.

.....aaahh, I see, MarkW, but do I?....I went back and read the thread originator, and it seems he is wanting to run two passive subs using active full-range amp sections/channels from the receiver....where or how is he going to cut the signal to congrue with the subs using passive subs?....and are we not thinking signal-path, even if the signal is now amplified?.....Zoysia, it sounds like you will want powered subs that accept speaker-wire and amplified full-range signals, and then out from the subs to the speakers, with the appropriate cuts made inside the subs.......

"I also wanted to buy 1 KLIPSCH AW-800-SW to give me more bass"

You can't run one passive sub off both channels.

Seriously, I think this "2 stuff" stuff is waaaaaay overrated.

Look, you need another amplifier for the second zone. Then you need a pair of speakers, too. At this point you've pretty much got a complete system less a source component.

When all is said and done, all "zone 1" is is a line level source.

I'd just as soon use a receiver instead of the integrated amp, slap on a low/moderately priced CD/DVD and have what was "zone 2" morph a full blown standalone system.

Of course, one could still run a line level feed from the mother ship's "zone 2" output into one of the receiver's line level inputs if you want the same thing in both rooms at the same time. Nice for parties but, on the whole, not worth theeffort on a day to day basis.

...sorry... just my daily rant. ...I think I need another caipirinha. You anywhere near Fort Smith?

....well, forget that other one, I spend half my time going to google to see what the component is that gets posted here....this sub he is talking about has a high cut, and it says the amplified signals run from it, to the other full-range speakers....so two sets of speaker wire run to it and there's no need for the integrated amp mentioned.......

"In addition to its pass-through network that simplifies system connection, the AW-800-SW easily connects to any of the two-way AW Series speakers and uses a high-pass crossover for the best possible sound performance."

Mulster7,
so I run both sets(L & R channel ) to the sub and then go to the left and right speakers.

.....Zoysia, I'm not that familiar with the equipment to be honest, but from what was said in the write-up, it's either to the sub first and then to the speakers, or vice-versa....the sub is rated at 75 watts, and those watts come from the two amp sections pushing the threesome....I have no doubt it's good stuff, and were I you, I would go ahead and order the threesome and fine-tune the hooking-up-of using the manuals.....

.....here's another thought....you could get a 2-channel amp, take the stereo signals out of the receiver's pre-outs full-range, and fire up zones 1 and 2 at the same time.......

I guess I wait till I receive them and look at manual like you said. I kinda wanted to pre-run wires to get a head start.

.....good for the headstart on the wiring, Zoysia....but it will be one way or the other, and from the article saying "pass-through" relating to the sub, I believe the sub gets the wires first with a degree of confidence....here is that AudioSource AMP-300 2-channel slave amp from a very reputable place at a most decent price.....you do understand taking the signals from the pre-outs of the receiver straight to the amp L&R inputs, right?.....

This is the traditional method of connecting passive subs and sounds correct.
