Zone 2 available power on av receiver

Hi, it might be a stupid question but I haven't found a clear answer anywhere. My receiver is an onkyo tx-rz730. It is rated at 100w 2 channels driven. I use an external amp for the main zone. In that case, is the 2nd zone using the full 100w of the internal amp? I have crapy speakers on that zone right now and I'm thinking of upgrading them for good bookshelves. I wonder if I can keep them wired to the zone 2 or if I need to invest in a separate amp to really enjoy them.
Thanks

Generally each channel of amplification will have the same capability, but just like if you had your main channels still on an internal amp, you're still sharing a single power supply for all the individual channel amps. Don't know why you particularly need additional amp for any particular speakers without more info about the speakers and how you use them, tho. How is the enjoyment now if you hook them up to zone 2?
