z-line flat panel tv stand from walmart

This tv stand is metal with three glass and has a swiveling mount that holds a 37"-50" flat panel tv. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with using this stand? It looks fairly well put together at the store. For $200 bucks it looks like an awfully good deal, everything that I have come across that is similiar to it is atleast twice as expensive. I'm asking because I can't find much info about it online, there is nothing on the walmart website about it. The few z-line stands that I have found online and are similiar to this one but more expensive. Any thoughts on if this would be a good buy?(don't want to get it home and find out its a peice of crap). I am not looking for a tv stand at this moment, but will need one when I move from my current apartment(which will most likely be in a year or so), and this tv stand is exactly what I would want(previous to finding this stand I assumed that something like it to be out of my price range).

If you have been shopping around and you think it is a good deal, then it probably is a good deal. I think you would almost want to assemble it to be sure its all there and workable, then disassemble it to store and transport. A year from now if you find something wrong, it would be to late to go back to Walmart with it and who knows about the manufacturer or spare parts if it is a one-off production run from some place in China?

I would not buy a stand I don't need and don't expect to need for a year or so. Even if it is the best deal now, you cannot know what will be available a year from now. Who knows, maybe the same stand will go on sale for less. And you might decide to go with a TV that won't work with it (say, something with a 60" screen or whatever). And storing things you don't need is often troublesome, as it can get in the way, or cost you storage fees, or it could be damaged while storing it.

But, if you do decide to ignore my advice and buy it anyway, I strongly recommend you do as Exit suggests, as you will not be able to return it over year after buying it if there is a problem with it. Hopefully, it will actually work with whatever TV you will then have, but if it does not, you will just be out of luck.

Thanks for the input, I wasn't planning on buying it right away, I am most likely going to wait on a sale, since I don't need it right away. The tv I have now will be the tv I have for years to come, I just bought it a couple of months ago, and I love it, and will not be able to afford an upgrade for quite sometime. The stand doesn't come assembled so I'd be putting it together myself. I'm just wondering if anybody owns one or knows someone who owns it, and if they like it or not, since I cannot find any ratings(or anything else) about it online.

Oh the reason I don't need it now is that I am lucky enough to have an apartment with a old fire place hearth(the fireplace is non-functional, it was blocked off years ago when they did renovations, but they decided to leave the fireplace for aesthetics) that works perfect as a stand for a tv and speakers. Sits just at the right height. I should post some pictures off it. Its actually kind of cool how it works out.

Buy only what you need now or very very soon!

One year, possibly new house and maybe a whole new HT setup?

It's a big gamble!

I think I didn't qutie expain myself well, I'm not planning on buying this right away, only if it goes on a really good sale, or when it is actually needed. I'm am more just looking into why this stand is much more less expensive than other similiar stands, and if anyone who owns it(or knows of it) may like or dislike. I know its way ahead of time to actually consider purchasing it now, but it will most likely be this stand or a very similair one that I purchase when I move to an apartment that will most likely not have a convienient hearth form me to put my tv on.

Oh okay.

200$ is a very good price for that piece of furniture.

I can't understand why dedicated AV furniture cost so much. The SANUS and Salamander stuff are great, but way too pricey!

If I had a house with a garage, I'm sure I could design the cabinets my self and buy the tooling and supplies to make them for cheaper...

That's called profit margin. :) It can be 50% or more for Salamander and Sanus. Wal-Mart doesn't have a margin anywhere near that large.

For the money buy Sanus

If you are thinking about spending 2 bills on some plain jane item at walmart you may want to consider spending a few extra bucks and getting a really slick stand. Go check out sanus dot com web site and you can find some really nice cabinet stands for about 70 bucks more. I just purchased a full range motion wall mount for my 50" pioneer and i absolutely love it. Searched for the item at at sanus web site and then found it on overstock dot com for 100 bucks less.
Check it out, may be what you are looking for. Good luck!
