YSP-3000 Hookup with Sub

Hello all, first time poster and definite noob. Thanks in advance for your patience.

I'm planning on purchasing an external speaker system for my 42" plasma and currently have no AV receiver. I've pretty much decided on the YSP-3000. I was also planning to hookup a sub to it and was going to use the HSU VTF-1. I think this combo will provide a good enough surround experience for movies and I really like the simplicity of not having to mount or find a place for rear speakers. I think there are enough walls and other surfaces to make it work fine.

Anyway, my question is, can I hook this tandem directly to the TV without an AV receiver? Or would things be better all around with an AV receiver at the center of the system? How would I utilize the HDMI connections available on the YSP to hook into a receiver or direct to the TV?

I don't mind spending the extra $$ on a receiver if it will make everything work better, but if it isn't necessary with a speaker system like the one I described, I don't mind doing without it.

Any pointers, sage wisdom, or other comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Huh!

Digital sound projector+HDMI..rights of admission reserved.:D

What's feeding the tv? Cant that feed the YSP-3000 too? If the tv audio output has to feed the DSP-then check both the tv and the DSP catalogues for compatability.

You will have to decide what is better all around, from demos, if possible.

Apologies for the lack of stuff.

Regards
