YPAO ,,speaker size question

All,

Just ran the YPAO auto setup last night on my HTR5960.
My speakers are Phase technologies Teatro Tower 10 fronts with a powered sub in each

Eosone center

infinity surrounds

The YPAO identified my speakers as follows

front - small
center - large
surround - large

My question is should I change my front and surrounds to small to make sure and force all the LFE out to the two powered subs.

New at the YPAO setup and any help would be appreciated.

thanks
Joe

YPAO definitely gets some things incorrect. For example, it always tells me that my centre speaker is large, when it definitely isn't, as it only goes down to 60 Hz.

Yeah, set all your speakers to small and crossover at 80 Hz to start with. You can adjust the crossover depending on what your ears like. With two powered subs, there's little point in letting any of your other speakers handle bass, so let the two subs handle it. That's what they were designed for.

cheers,

Set all speakers to small, and if your towers have subs in them, you can set the fronts to large, and you can also set LFE to both so it outputs to the front L & R and the sub output. YPAO has never been good at setting the correct speaker size.

I have the RX-V659 and the YPAO did basically the same to mine. I just set them all to small and used my spl meter to make adjustments in the manual mode. This improved the sound. I left the EQ alone since I felt it did do a good job there.

if your towers have powered subs in them set them to large that way you can actually use the subs in those speakers
