YPAO: Front? Flat? High? Mid? Low?

What do most of you run your YPAO equilizer settings with? Do you find it better to equilize the whole system "Flat", or do you prefer it when you equilize the surrounds based on the front speakers' frequency response (especially when your fronts are large towers)?

I prefer "front" with my 2500 and I do have floor standing speakers.

Electone...

I believe the benefit of the FRONT setting is to match the sound of your surrounds and centre with the main speakers.

Beneficial if your watching HT and you get a left to right pan, or front to rear sound transition. As I understand it, the receiver sets the centre and surrounds to match your mains as close as possible. Nice not to hear a change in tone as a truck drives by in the background..

Flat - as it says.. All speakers are of similar quality..

Comes down to that one thats flipped around here quite alot - let your ears make the decision. Technically there isnt a right or wrong unless your speaker quality is miles apart.
Try a week set at each.... Or grab some material, sit down and check the detail of each for 1/2 an hour then make your decision.

Thanks. I'm of the old school thinking that messing with the signal is never a good idea. I have never touched a tone control knob, or owned an equalizer. But, I will try the "Front" setting to see how it affects the sound.

It's easy enough to switch back if needed, I personally have been using the "Front" setting as well as my front floor standing speakers far outshine my surround speakers and the sound has been excellent. I'm still tinkering here and there though so I'll post more later if I decide to change anything.
