Your advice on cheap amplification

So I'm considering moving my BMRs & 851N into my bedroom, which means I would need two more channels of amplification. Not really lookin to spend 1k on a Monolith amp or used MCA 225 right now. Any suggestions on two channels of cheap amplification that would power the BMRs at reasonable volumes? Our should I just wait a couple months for a better upgrade. I was looking at the Onkyo M-5010 for $230.

Btw, the Sensitivity for the BMR's are 85db.

I'd go with a Crown XLS 1502 preferably for a bit more, but if you need to minimize expense, the 1002. What are you using for avr or is the base unit a pre/pro?

What @lovinthehd just said. Him and some of the other fellas tipped me off to those crown XLS. Plenty of power and they sound great too. And for really affordable prices I love mine. Plan on driving my entire home theater with those bad boys

It will be a pre-pro set up. The Crown XLS seems to be recommended on a lot of the other threads too soooo lets give it a shot. Found one couple on eBay for <$300. Can't beat that. I may try to build a little enclosure for it later down the line as I don't think it's a looker. Got my BMRs and HSU sub off forum advice and been very happy. The Crown XLS it is! Thx for the advice guys.

Does 300 w matter much vs 215 w on the 1002? Seems like most speakers would be already doing good with 215 w.

I'm driving my SVS prime towers with the 1002's and there doing just fine. I don't think you'd hear too much difference vs 215 and 300 it takes a lot more power then that to hear a big increase in volume. I think the 1502 has better specs though. And I will get the bigger amps simply because I think more power is better for simply 1 it doesn't cost much more to go up the chain. And 2 I'd rather have that extra power and not need it rather then need it someday and not have it LOL

Well I was going to wait to buy and see if I could get the XLS even cheaper on a black Friday deal. BUT the plan changed yesterday because of @Swerd and @ryanosaur . I actually wound up ordering a BRM center channel last night, which I found out Dennis would make for me. Soon all my three mains will be BMRs. :) I'm gonna sell of my front three Klipsch speakers - thanks to motivation from Swerd. I was telling them that the treble on these we're off the wall crazy. So no need for those two channels of amplification anymore . When i get my next pair of speakers when ever that my be I'll remember the XLS though.

Great. And how do you like the sound of your BMR speakers?

Love em! They really stand out especially when put side by side to the Klipsch. They have more even highs - a more present mid tone. I give the bass a "B" as it doesn't come through too much a lower listing volumes. But hey I got a sub that takes care of the problem for the most part (need to get a second sub but that a different story). You can't beat the price either. Only way to get better bass out of a speaker is go pay 3x to 10x as much. So no complains from me.

While I'm still not clear on why the amp isn't needed any more by OP, FWIW the extra power and better snr spec (for 1502/2002/2502 vs 1002) for the small increase in cost between is why I'd go that route.

I'm going to sell my Klipsch's L/R/C. Ordered a center channel BMR last night and just gonna have 3 BMRs in my HT room. So no extra speakers to put in my bedroom right now. Will keep the Crown XLS in mind for the future thought.

Thanks, but I can't imagine not having a system in my bedroom ;)
