Your 2008 AV purchases?

What are you looking to upgrade in your home theater or stereo setup this year?

For me it's a new reciever with HDMI and a HD projector. I'm satisfied with the audio side of things(for the time being). Last year was very good to me as I got new speakers, more amps, room treatments and a second sub.

I'm going to continue to watch the HD format skirmish play out but there are plans to get a Blu-Ray player, maybe after I get back from Korea.

Yamaha 1800 and bedroom speakers.

I may actually plug in the LCD in the office. It has been in there for 3 months and I still havent hooked it up.

I need to stop buying gear and finish my room.

I still have to build a wall, install a drop ceiling, lighting and seating. I want to follow Greg's lead and build some room treatments.

If I actually get all that done I will start looking at projectors and screens.

In my mid/low-fi way, I just picked up an Onkyo 8522 Stereo receiver. Soon I'll be making the choice of new speakers, PSB Image 25B, Monitor Audio 2B/2Rb, or Focal Chorus 706 (or 707's if I can find them used). Then later this year the little lady and I will delve into the video world and go for a 32-42" flat screen for movie watching. That will replace our woefully inadequate 20" CRT.

As I started in a post the other day, room treatment of some sort will be first. As far as gear...it's a "wish list" for now...funds please!

i ordered the lazboy and SVS subs (and will be ordering the LCD TV's and most likely acoustics [gik]) in Canada ... I'll put them all in one container ... can you imagine opening one giant gift?!

2008 will start off as a low-key year b/c my business school loans have started coming due, and I just spent 15K on a diamond ring.... leaves a little less to spend on electronics!!

For the year I'm looking at a standalone BD player- most likely one of the Pioneer Elites, a new universal remote (one of the rechargeable RF logitech's), and probably an SVS sub towards the end of the year to really step the bass up a notch.

On top of that, I'll probably buy another 75-100 movies this year as well as 5-10 PS3 games.

Absolutely nothing!

None of my purchases are planned in advance. They just sort of happen. If I suddenly get an itch that needs scratching, then I'll remedy the situation at that point in time.

Subwoofer for my stereo. Currently leaning towards the SVS SB-12 after suggestions here and reading up on it. Looks to be a good choice for a 100% music system.

I'm getting a 1080p projector (probably the Sony VW60), a dedicated blu-ray player (as opposed to using my PS3), and maybe a new large screen TV (50" to 60") for the family room.

The following room treatments:

3 2'x4'x2" for back wall
2 2'x4'x4" for front wall behind mains
4-8 bass traps - 4 corners 2 per corner stacked. Depending if I have budget enough to custom build or order my top trap since the roofline meets my ceiling at a roughly 45 degree angle.
