You want to flex your HT? Halo 2 for Xbox...

For those of you that enjoy videogames or have a friend that enjoys videogames, play Halo 2 for Xbox on your HDTV and surround-sound setup. The audio is stunning and seriously rivals any DVD I've ever watched... er, listened to... The picture is 480p widescreen, but is much sharper than any movie. The action is extremely fast-paced with something going on around you at all times. This is what "immersive audio" is all about. You can't get this from a movie. :D

I would agree that it is immersive, but no more so than a well made DVD. There are parts of the game where the center channel cuts out, and I was a little disappointed that it is only 480p, I was hoping for a little more from such a premiere game. but it's still great fun to play.

I haven't tried hooking the xbox up to the HT. Don't you have to go buy a kit or something? Anyway, I was kind of disappointed playing Halo2. It was fun, but since the first one came out I kind of got into PC games; and Far Cry and Half Life 2 are on a whole different level. The multiplayer online is kind of addicting though.

Off topic, but indeed. Console games are worlds apart from PC games like HL2 and FarCry. They don't have the raw horsepower to run such insane graphics, AI, etc.

...but they are still pretty darn good and don't require a new $400 video card every 6-months in order to play the latest release :p (the main reason I recently got *out* of PC gaming).

I have to say I agree with SacKen. I simply don't have the time & money to try to keep a PC current enough for gaming. Not to mention how much more fun gaming is on a 100" screen than my Samsun 19" computer monitor! ;)

Very arely you get some kind of glitch on an Xbox game (eg Morrowind has a few), but for the most part you just pop in the disc & play. No driver updates, no hardware issues, no crashes, etc etc. Someday maybe I'll beef up one of my PCs for gaming, but for now I prefer the 'Box. And I'm really drooling at the thought of the next generation of Xbox & Playstation consoles. :D
