I made the mistake of joining discusion of wire types pertaining to exotic power cords and purity of the wire used to wind a transformer effecting audio sound.

I tried to talk some sense into these people, use a little physics, and electronic theory.

This is the responce I got:

"To prove the effect of power cable designs on transformers is best done by experience, as the stuff taught in ee courses and common sense will just lead you to doubts."

Yeah, lets just ignore science and technology because it will cast doubt on the magic...

....RJB, some folks refuse to allow a third party opinion to rule the situation and be taken as law, and I say good for them.....

Yeah, I've seen many threads of interest disappear in a poof of argument. Sometimes better to just move along.

Ah mulester7...

Ah mulester7...what I was getting at was the refusal of some people to be parted from their snake oil.

Once you take into account the use of quality parts the rules of physics still apply...

I can whip up some fancy wooden speaker cable lifters ( requires the use of a high tech 2 X 4 and a diamond impregnated hand saw) if you want some... ;)

I've learned sometime ago that it is pointless to argue the merits/demerits of exotic cables, powercords, etc, with those self proclaimed audiophiles.

Some wise men once said, a fool and his money are soon parted. Most likely those self proclaimed audiophiles have more than enough cash to spare. Who am I to save them a few pennies.

It is a nice thing to try to explain things to people, to help them understand something, and to try to help them not waste their money and efforts getting "snake oil". But some people are too unreasonable to be helped, and after a few replies, there can come a time in a thread in which it is often most desirable to simply depart. Continuing to post in some cases is a matter of casting pearls before swine.

Of course, it may be that someone reads the thread and appreciates what one has said without replying. Unfortunately, there is generally no way of knowing if that is the case or not.

Indeed, one should think for oneself and make up one's own mind about things. However, being stubborn and refusing to think about reasons and evidence is simply stupid. In order to think for oneself, one must think.

And your moniker over there? Are you tweakeng?

If so, I note that you did not respond to the many assertions of mine regarding what you do not understand..
