Yankee legend Phil Rizzuto dies

His speed and spunk made him a Hall of Famer. "Holy cow!" made Phil Rizzuto famous. Popular as a player and beloved as a broadcaster, the New York Yankees shortstop during their dynasty years of the 1940s and 1950s died Monday night. "The Scooter" was 89.

Phil Rizzuto thrilled one generation of Yankees fans with his Hall of Fame play at shortstop and entertained the next two generations from the broadcast booth.

Tuesday, a day after he died in a West Orange, N.J., nursing home at 89, Yankee fans of all ages expressed their love and admiration for the man whom most knew by his nickname, "The Scooter."

I read the article today at msnbc.com and learned that he is doing the narrative in Meat Loaf's Paradise by the Dashboard Light. That is something I never knew.

'Looks like a play at the plate...holy cow I think he's gonna make it'. Stop right there...before we go any further do you love me?

Reminds me of that movie "Billy Madison", when the teacher makes Billy spell Rizzuto on the chalkboard.:)

Rest in Peace Phil.

The man was iconic of a bygone golden era in baseball that many a fan say can't be replicated today by our steroid pumped "superstars."
