Hello everyone,

Happy New Year!!!!

I have been looking for a new receiver for a while now and has led me into a total confusion....RX-V2600 or VSX-56TXi or VSX-74Txi ????

I like to have all the latest features and connections but at the same time I don't want to compromise on the performance...It looks like the RX-V2600 has lots of features but 56Txi could be better in sound and performance (not sure though  )
I will use the system for DVD's for the most part and music ocassionaly (70:30 split)....

Also, anyone have any idea about the VSX-74Txi (as compared to VSX-56Txi). I know it has more features like iPod and Sirius but not important for me...

Looked at Denon's, but they are a little over budget.....:(

In your educated opinions, which of the two receivers would bit the G-spot.....

If you are after the latest features, that is what you have to compare, which has what you really need, including the video side of the house:)
Speakers have a bearing on the component's power requirements. After that, I would not worry much.

The VSX is a true 110WRMS X 7 with the latest features and connections, it is a good receiver, you need a good speakers the performance is overwhelming. I find the VSX more friendly & easy to use. if you can go for VSX-74TXi you will have more features but if it is not important for you the sound is the same.

I was comparing the AX4AVi (In USA: 74Txi) and RX-V2600.

I went for the Yammy - main reasons:
  • Yamaha has for each input the audio level adjustment (Can even out different sources)
  • Yamaha has upscaling for picture (480i [576i] -> 480p [576p] -> 720p -> 1080i)
  • Yamaha was little cheaper than the AX4AVi
  • Yamaha provides superb support for other remotes (Have programmable remote HTM MX-700)

I've been :D with the sound of my new receiver (damm my Sub never sounded so good) - will get to picture evaluating in a couple of weeks when my projector arrives.

Thanks for the input. I went to my local Tweeter store and from the looks and features, I liked the 74Txi the most. I am going to go back with some of my cds/dvds as well as my iPod and hear it.

Video upconversion is not something I am looking at this point and I think one can by a DVD player that does the upconversion and upscaling stuff.

Does anyone know how much does 74Txi receivers go for? The local tweeter has it for $ 1500.00....
