Ok, when I run the auto setup on my new Yammy RX659 it gives me a W-1: front L and front R rev. I have pulled the wires out of my wall and closely check to make certain everything is correct, rechecked and it says the same thing. If a reverse the wires it passes the auto check with an “ok”. This seems weird because to get the “ok” the wires are definitely reversed. Any suggestions on this? If it matters, the speakers are Paradigm studio 40’s.

I have the sneaking suspicion that this is common to YPAO. It does the same faulty phase error to mine and others on AH.

...if you can make it go away, there's a reversal someplace...you can dig further if you're going to lose sleep over it or just go with the flow...

Did you do the in-wall wiring? A contractor? Were the wires spliced??? I seriously doubt it's a wiring error within the unit, but without being able to see the internal workings I'd suppose it's a remote possibility...easiest way to tell would be to connect your speakers via short wires directly to the Yamaha and see what happens...Internal speaker wiring reversal? Another possibility, equally remote...

jimHJJ(...I'm guessin' theres a junction point somewhere that's to blame...)

You could do a continuity check on the wires with a multimeter.

After "searching" threads on this it seems very common that the phase rev. shows up using the auto calibration. I did all the in-wall wiring myself and I am certain it is correct. I re-checked it last night. I will run some wires across the floor to reassure myself but it looks like this issue has plagued many people in this forum.

Do you have a test DVD? If so, you can run it and see where the tones show up. Or, run the internal tone on manual, if that is possible. Then you will know if the speakers are wired up properly?
If phase is the issue, then you would have to do more testing with an ohm meter/volt meter:eek:

I am using 3 Energy RC-LCRs across the front hooked up to a Yamaha RXV2500 and every time I run the YPAO for setup it tells me all 3 LCRs are out of phase. This has happened at least 5 or 6 times. I have checked and double checked all connections so I know all is hooked up right and with all the reading I have done it does seem to be a problem with the Yamaha's YPAO system.
If you are fairly sure everything is wired correctly don't worry about it.:)

Ain't this hobby fun???

Speaker connections

Greg,
The message you posted sounds like the speakers are not plugged into the correct jack and is different from the phase error. It sounds like the Left speaker is plugged into the right speaker jack and vice versa.

Unplug one the speakers from the back of the speaker (ie. Right jack) and verify that only the Left speaker is playing.

JC- Interesting theory and I will re-check when I get home. It seems if this was the case I would notice when it did the test tone. When it says “L Front” the test tone is coming from the left speaker and vise versa.
