Does anybody knows whether the 2700 comes with TBC circuitry on video outputs? The 2600 does have TBC though.

Thanks / Avliner.

What's a TBC circuit? Time base corrector? @___@

I just bought the said receiver (haven't hooked it up yet...waiting for cables!) but it seems unlikely that it would have one...but I'm a noob so what do i know? :D

I would imagine all that should be handled in the VCR or camcorder no? I think the only processing done by the Yamaha is signal upconversion. Again, I stress that this is only speculation. Is there a way I can test this out for u?

Evilkat,

wow, congrats on your purchase! I'm sure you're going to enjoy your new toy pretty much. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to hear the 2700 (just heard the 2500 & 2600 though). Will try to do it the soonest possible.

This new beast seems to be a real champ and I'm thinking about getting one myself in the future.

Regarding to the TBC question, I've been googling round' n round and haven't find anything that mentions the 2700 does have TBC circuitry.

Maybe Clint or Gene may have the final word on this subject though.

Enjoy your stuff & keep me posted about your opinion on the 2700!

Cheers / Avliner

Cheers / Avliner.

D'OH! I went through that sheet and didn't see it! I must be blind!!

Okay so a n00b question:

Isn't TBC used for correcting the snyc issue in tapes and due to the slight delay in the head movement and tape stretch due to the head having to move across the tape diagonally and having the reader head pressing up against the tape.

For digital sources like DVDs/CDs, since the whole thing is moving at constant speed the whole time, I'm assuming there won't be an appreciable delay. So shouldn't the TBC cct be in VRCs/Tape players?

Why would a home-theater grade receiver need to have it in this day and age, where most of the media would be digital anyway?

Most but not all media will be digital. Analog sources must be converted to digital so the receiver can do its magic with bass management and matrix processing modes like ProLogic II. TBC corrects for the delays with tape as you mentioned so that the now digital signal maintains a constant bit rate.
