I have purchased a Belkin cable and tried connecting my IPOD to my yami 2500 through a number of the extra inputs (phono, cd, etc) but have had no luck. I was told that I may need to turn the volume all the way up on the ipod because it may not have enough "current" for the yami to pick it up (I have no idea if that makes sense or not) but this did not seem to help!

do I need some additional piece of equipment? other cables? or what? I would appreciate any detailed (plain english) advise on how to make this work.....

Thanks so much.

Dunno about you, but a cable works for me. Perhaps the cable is defective?

What plug on the Ipod are you using? Are you getting ANY output at all from that plug in the Ipod?

I'm using a cheapo 1/8" stereo mini plug to two RCA plugs and feed it into a high level input on any of several of my receivers and it works fine. Not just with my Sansa but also with a buddy's Ipod another bud's mini-disc player.

Actually, you should be able to use any input except the phono input.

Receiver configuration

Check the setup on your receiver. Make sure that it is configured to use the analog audio input that you have the iPod connected to and not the default digital optical or coax connection.
My Yamaha also has a set of analog jacks on the front pannel that might also make it easy to experiment.
