Hi Guys ,

There are the three models I narrowed my search down to. All
of the above are 6.1 ch about 65-80 watts per channel and
THDs of less than .1 %

Any any of the experienced members please suggest which
one to buy ? I am completely lost in all the tech specs.

Grazie,

YOC

I would rate the Yamaha superior in the DSP section over the others specially the Cinema DSP modes but the Marantz also has a nice amp section like the Yamaha. The Onkyo is solidly built but the sound is a matter of personal taste.

The Yamaha can tend to sound bright with some speakers and you may or may not like that charecteristic so in the end let your ears be the judge. I would think in this case that the Marantz is a good compromise although you should give the Yamaha a good listening to.

When you say "sound bright" what exactly do you mean ?
Does it sound louder ?

Thanks.

Bright= more treble or high frequency response,

eg. glass breaking sounds louder and more emphisized

Warm= not bright, or more subdued highs

Well, that's how I understand it anyway.

Absolutely spot on audiouser, the Yamaha will tend to sound bright with certain brands of speakers, although with Yamaha's own as well as Axiom, Canton, Paradigm and Magnepans, they tend to sound real good.
