I have a new HD Ready LCD TV equipped wiht 1 HDMI.
I don't want to have cables all around so I was thinking at the YSP-800 but I also need a CD / DVD Player and it has to have 1 HDMI too.
What do I need to do in order to use my HDMI interface with theses 3 devices? (LCD - DVD - YSP-800).
Please advise.

I believe the YSP gets a digital signal(coax, toslink), not HDMI hook up. What DVD player are you using?

Assuming your dvd player has both hdmi and digital coax.

Run the hdmi to the tv and the digital coax to the YSP-800.

That's all you need as the amp and processor are built into the YSP-800.

Thank you for your answer.
I have to choose the DVD Player and it has to have HDMI.
Any suggestions?
The TV is a LCD Samsung 37''.

So, for what I understand I can use HDMI only for the video signal (from DVD to TV) but for audio I have to use the digital coax/toslink from DVD to YSP.
What happen to the audio signal inside the HDMI cable?
Can you please explain?
Cheers.

The YSP-800 is acting as your receiver and speakers all in one. And since there isn't any video switching going on in it, there is no need to have hdmi inputs. And since there isn't an hdmi input, there is no way to send audio over hdmi.
So if you had a dedicated receiver with hdmi you could run audio and video over hdmi and then it would be split into normal speaker wires and an hdmi output.

So if I want to have benefit from HDMI I need a dedicated receiver equipped with HDMI and I can't use the YSP-800. Is this right?

Q) What happen to the audio signal inside the HDMI cable?
A) If hooked up as described above, when watching TV without the surround system, you will listen to the hdmi audio on the TV speakers. You would mute tv audio when using the surround system. There is no advantage quality wise of hdmi audio over any other digital connection (today).

Maybe YSP-800 is not the right option.
What can you suggest to me in order to use the HDMI that I already have on the TV?
Budget is around $2500.

You would still be using the hdmi for video from dvd player to tv.
HDMI was created to transfer video and audio was added later.
But to use the sound of the YSP-800 you would need a different cable for audio.
If you still don't think the YSP-800 is for you, there are a large number of choices you can get for $2500. But it would involve surround speakers and a receiver. If you picked the YSP-800 because of it's all-in-one nature then a full surround system might not be for you. If you really like the YSP-800 then you would have to run digital coax/toslink to the YSP-800 and HDMI to your tv.
