I am thinking of buying a new Yammy receiver from the US and delivered to Canada, does anyone know if the warranty is valid in Canada if the product is purchased in the US?

Merry Xmas

Not valid, sorry. Not too many products have a warranty that will transfer across the border. What receiver and how much are you hoping to spend if you don't mind my asking? I'm not sure if you know it but by the time you ship that receiver across the border you'll be looking at way more than you think. I bought my receiver for $451 us and it cost me at least $750 Cad to get it delivered. For me it was worth it because the receiver costs $2K up here. For $750 you'd be getting pretty close to a Yamaha 1500 in Canadian dollars if you shop around up here.

I am looking at a RX-V2600 - I see its approx $880 US compared to $1599 (my best price I can find) - I dont know what the duty is but that's quite a difference. Shipping is only $50 so it seems like a great deal...

Add 15% tax, at least a $60 handling fee, and a couple of things I can't think of right now. So figure $880 US at a .20 conversion rate gives you $1056 Cad. Now add 15% tax to that and you're at $1214, now add $60 for the S&H fee and you're at $1274, add the $50 US shipping fee at the same copnversion rate of .20 and you are at $1334 Cad. Still a lot cheaper but now also factor in that you don't have a warranty. What you should do is take that figure, call a local dealer and tell them what you have to offer. I'll bet you can get one locally for that price if you're willing to hunt a bit, especially on Boxing day.
