Hey guys, I m new here and love this forum. I recently purchased a v3900 and Mirage OS 3 and subwoofer set up. I just set it up last night and 150 page manual and no beer in the house:eek:. I have a question on the 2 HDMI outputs? Can I play my PS3 and listen to the radio at the same time? I have learned alot from reading on this forum but I am still learning and trying to understand the basics. My setup up is time warner HD box,PS3, V3900, 50 samsung plasma, Mirage OS3 subwoofer.

I believe this is possible, but don't quote me. Since the receiver can pass the audio from the PS3 on to the television you could use the TV's speakers to listen to the game as well as see it. I remember being on the CD input on my RX-V3800 and still seeing video on my TV from my PS3 (of course the receiver wasn't outputing audio for the PS3). I don't know why, but for some reason I have been unable to recreate those circumstances so I must have done something to either disable that function or had something activated before that isn't activated now.

why dont i get this?

Why dont u put a dvd in hit play and while its playing push the buttom for receivers tuner and just listen,if the video goes out then theres another reason to use optical cable as the problems with hdmi get longer by the day!
Be sides why put video in the receiver?
Why ask,try first huh, then ask why not!
I put pc audio,fm,am, on anytime while the ps3 does video by just input selector on receiver!
My hmdi goes directly to tv!!!

The 3800 spelled the capability out on pg 43, not so for the 3900. As JAMS eludes to, try starting a video source first then follow the instructions on pg. 37 for AUDIO SELECT.

I ran into a similar problem on the video side of my RX-V1800. I ended up doing a global reset as I was unable to get the video out from my dvd player. I fat fingered something and I just couldn't get it too display. Thank god a receiver reboot fixedd it.

yes and no u cant, but maybe

Ok let me explain what i know, first if you are getting cable tv audio through optical cable and video goes thru hdmi strait to the tv then when you can switch sources on the receiver your audio will do radio or what u select, and video will be the hdmi source ,but feeding audio thru hdmi as well as video will not allow it,because your sources are one dimensional !
Optical gives another way to output audio while watching video of a dvd, playing music cd while watching tv is simple!
Put the hdmi directly to your tv and optical too receiver from digital cable box simple!
My menu on ps3 and cable box allows u too select hdmi for video and optical for audio,i suspect the L&R rca audio outputs on cable boxes are allways active so thats another way also! Just like your audio pre-outs on receivers are!
I just ordered 2 hdmi cables from parts express for $10.00.i hate those things but ps3 decodes the new true hd & DTS master audio formats from hdmi only!
No watching dvd without the dvd audio, thats ok,who does dvd that way!
Watching the whales on the history ch while listening to music thats cool!

Ever hope to be more confused, just have a hdmi problem, now theres a mess!
