I need to replace my old receiver. All the digital inputs are failing. I also plan on buying a playstation 3 once they are more available. I have sacd and dvd-audio disks. It looks like you can play sacd through the playstation via hdmi 1.2. So I assume I should get a receiver that takes hdmi 1.2. The Yamaha 2700 seems like it fits the bill. Does anyone know if all of these assumptions i made make sense? Will I be able to play sacd via the playstation 3 through a yamaha v2700?

Not sure, FYI i heard that PS3 uses a 1.3 connection and to date no tv or receiver has 1.3 till 2007 sometime.

Pulled from the HDMI site.

Q: Is HDMI 1.3 backward compatible with prior releases of the HDMI spec and with DVI?

A: Yes, HDMI is fully backward compatible with all prior releases of the HDMI spec, as well as DVI compliant devices.

So that...will be that...with that :p
