Hi Guys,

I have been reading this forum regarding above topic http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=41243

Now i currently run my system as 7.2, with the LBR & RBR speakers as my back surrounds. I know there was a setting regarding PRESENCE, however i had overlooked it until today..

Upon reading that topic, i noticed it had considerably good results with some owners of this feature. I did a search but looks like noone has this setup on DTV afaik.

Now i was hoping someone here has this setup, as i would like to try it, but i would rather not drill holes on my feature wall yet. Kevin from Eastwood had acknowledged that it does provide a certain degree of extra ambience, however it was not something he has setup in his own HT.

Just gathering some additional info/exp on this forum anyway.

Cheers

try a search:) IIRRC Gene or Clint had made some good reference to using the setup.

Prescence speakers only work when you are using the Cinema DSP modes, and they can't be used in conjunction with the surround back speakers, it's one or the other, but not both at the same time. Personally, I prefer the surround back, but I have never attemped to use presence speakers either.

I have the RX-V3800, and added presence speakers a few weeks ago. I happened to have a pair of Mirage Omnisat v2 sats on hand, so I figured I might as well make use of them.

As you can see in the photo, they're not placed as Yamaha suggests, but I find them fine where they are.
For movies that have lots of surround effects, I use the rear surrounds. For movies that aren't heavy with surround effects, I switch to presence.
For the music soundfields, they can also add to the experience of "being there".
Used with discretion, they're a nice option to have.
