yamaha user question

is it very important to match the yamaha presense speakers with front speakers? All my speakers are identical (NS-M225s) except for presense speakers which are NS-M125s.

I don't believe that it's very important to match them if your receiver adjusts equalizer settings during an auto setup routine.

IMO, the truest test is if you think they sound good.

Obviously, if the front EFX speakers can match the mains, that would be optimal. That said, I used a set-up similar to yours for many years, a smaller version of my mains for the front EFX speakers. Worked great, because the voicing matched.

I'm currently using non-matching speakers, but with some EQ applied to better match the mains. I'm happy with the way things sound, although it did require a bit more effort to get them to blend well.

Should the presence speakers be aimed at the listening position or into the room?
