Yamaha TSR-700 HDMI signal issues (weak/no signal detected; only fixable via Initialization)

I have read that the TSR-700 has some HDMI issues, but just wanted to try and see if this is fixable.

I am using Certified Premium HDMI cables from Monoprice. I have those cables running from the receiver to my laser projector and various game consoles. This setup works with the TSR-700 but, after time (a week or two), I receive the generic "weak/no signal" HDMI error for all devices connected to the receiver.

Through random chance I discovered that running Initialization fixes the issue; however, this resets all of my settings and, as mentioned above, stops working after some time.

Any help would be appreciated (even if it's just confirming I need to return/replace this) -- thanks!

Hello and welcome! I have returned a TSR-700 myself for related issues. There have been a few firmware updates since that happened. Are you using the latest firmware?

Thank you! And, yes, unfortunately -- currently on the latest firmware.

Nope - Hisense 120L5F (a "laser TV" -- really just an ultra short throw projector).

I read the "Weak/ No Signal" part and had a flashback of my own setup. My TSR-700 drove me up the wall over a few things and I just had to return it. Are you using HDMI-CEC?

I can confirm that I have had a terrible time getting CEC to work reliably for any period of time without a reset on my TSR-700. Honestly I thought it was my TV being reset that was the issue but I’ll give the receiver a shot by itself again and see if that corrects it.

It works for a while and then stops and it is frustrating for the family when turning things on and off. I hate doing the reset because of having to recalibrate everything.

Easiest method is to get a power switch and just turn it off then on.. I've found it will restore hdmi output
