yamaha soavo speakers?

I found this via the Yamaha "global" website. I was actually looking at their different lineups and wondered about their speaker sound & quality (they have HX Series, EF Series, and PMD series speakers which all look nice).......but then stumbled upon these wonderful looking speakers. Their construction looks top notch (its Yamaha as well which I have had good luck with) with good as far as I can tell components.

I am currently shopping for a new 5.1 speaker setup and am really trying to narrow down my focus on speakers as there are so many choices out there.

Anyone have any news/comparison/prices/availability etc on specifically the Yamaha Soavo series or the other ones here (http://www.yamaha.co.jp/english/product/av/products/speaker.html)??

I haven't heard any of Yamaha's speakers in years, but in the past, I always thought they sounded kind of odd. Maybe they've changed, who knows?


I like all their electronics and instruments, but their speakers were kind like the other Japanese electronics companies speakers, to basically be avoided.

Make sure to go someplace and listen before you buy, and compare them to others out there in the same price range.

I have listened to the EF series quite a lot and found it to be generally neutral (which is good for a speaker)

good bang for the buck and looks nice too. for HT use, the entry level EF series is hard to beat.

I never considered the HX series because it was only in cherry color I think.

wow! the soavo does look nice b&w cm1 beating in looks!

in price I think they are above the HX series (as per my dealer - no exact price yet, they will be available here next month)

they remind me of the Infinity TiK series.

The yamaha speakers were at CEDIA this year. some of the specs and prices are posted in the CEDIA thread. They do look very nice!
