Hi

I am trying to connect the audio out from my Yamaha RXV473 to an Opus 300 multi room audio system using digital audio coax cables . I am unable to get any sound through the Opus system. I have checked all cables and the Opus and they are fine.

Can anyone offer any advise

Thanks

The RXV-473 does not have any digital coaxial outputs. So to how did you manage to send a digital signal from it to the Opus?

You will want to slow down and talk about what you are trying to achieve. You may also want to Google up some terminology so that you can talk the basic language of A/V if you are new to all of this.

1. The Opus 300 system with a MCU 300 does not have any digital audio inputs.
2. Most A/V receivers can't handle digital audio to zone 2 so won't be able to provide audio to your distributed audio system using digital only sources (HDMI or optical/coaxial digital).
3. You typically would connect your sources digital to your A/V receiver, and analog to your home audio distribution system.

Here is a picture of the MCU300 if that's what you are using so others are aware. It is a 6 source (with loop through) analog stereo distribution hub with remote IR capabilities.

Welcome to the forum, MPB!

Guys, don't focus on the "digital" part. I use digital audio coax cables for RCA connections because...they're just RCA cables. The Yamaha does have a set of left/right audio outputs, and my assumption yesterday morning is that's what is being used...but I didn't have time to respond and verify.

MPB, it would be helpful if you clarify which connections you are using on the back of the Yamaha and on the Opus.

Thanks for the replies

Sorry if i have caused any confusion!! - I have the Opus system installed and have Blu Ray player and a TV already connected and working fine. Te Blu ray player is in the same room as the AV receiver, the TV is in a different room. I have tried to connect the Yamaha AV receiver to the Opus using the same cables that I have used to connect the Blu Ray player, so I know that the cables and the Opus are both ok. I am using the AV out jacks(red & white) for the output from the AV receiver.

I have tried to contact the people I bought the Opus system from but they haven't replied. I also poke to Richer sounds who I bought the AV receiver from and they couldn't help either

Thanks again
