Yamaha RXV1065 pass threw?

I have a question on the rxv1065 hdmi pass threw. I have hdmi control turned on and hdmi passthrew is on as well. The problem is, if I turn on my tv without using the receiver sometimes there will be no picture. Other times the picture will be there for 30sec or so then goes out. Then sometimes its fine. Everytime there is a picture that goes out or no picture when the receiver is not turned on, if I then turn the receiver on there is a picture. If I have the receiver on and turn it off while leaving the tv on, there will still be a picture. Is that the way it works or is there another setting?

HDMI pass-through will not work with HDMI Control - "On", see note Pg 58 under Standby Through.

I have hdmi control turned on. This is what my manual says:
Standby Through
On or Off
Selects on or off of output of hdmi signals input from the hdmi 1-4 jacks to the hdmi out jackwhen this unit is on standby. When this parameter is set to "on", this unit out put signals input from the hdmi 1-4 jacks to the video monitor even when this unit is on standby.
On: Outputs the hdmi signals to the hdmi out jack.
Off: Not output the hdmi signals to the hdmi out jack.

I know what the manual says, and I’ve been deciphering many different manufacturers’ manuals for many years. Unfortunately, I don’t have this unit to confirm, so you’ll have to try this on your own, and not take my word as gospel. The manual, as many are, is a bit confusing about it, but it doesn’t seem that you can have HDMI Control AND Standby Through – “On” simultaneously. Try turning HDMI Control “Off”.

I’m not sure if other Yamahas work this way, but it seems contrary to the way other brands work: HDMI Control needs to be “On” for the Standby Pass Through to work.

Actually, rereading the note, the Standby Through should not be available for setting if HDMI Control is “On”.

This parameter is not available when ‘HDMI Control’ is set to ‘On’
