The Yamaha has been removed from its rack. It is no longer connected to sources or speakers. It turns on after a number of pressings of the standby button. It appears to function normally FM signal is received through headphones jack. Time passes, it will either shut off or
freeze on the current setting Input remains on FM with volume unable to change. Manual input or the remote have no effect on it. If the pattern holds true it will eventually shut down. Physical inspection shows nothing. The four visible fuses appear fine. There is no sign of scorching or the smell of burning.

Is it under warranty? Have you contacted Yamaha? Have you had it unplugged for a day or so, totally? At times that seem to work. Or, Yam may have a reset code? Unfortunately most are driven by computer type software programs.
