Hello all,
Does anyone have any experience with using an aftermarket power cord with this model? Or do you have an opinion about wether or not it might improve the sound at all? This is my first dolby digital reciever so I am still in the learning stage with all the features of the RXV2500. Thank you very much :D

I am using a LAT International AC-2 power cable ~$100. It does not make a huge difference, but I did hear a little more extension in the highs and a little more control of the bass when I hooked it up about a year ago. I would recommend this cable, but would probably recommend line conditioning first if you do not already have it implemented in your system. I think you would get a much bigger difference in sound quality from a line conditioner. I'm under the assumption if you are going to spend $100 bucks on a power cable, you probably have a few hundred to spare for a good line conditioner.

I seriously doubt that an aftermarket line cord will make a difference at all. Unless you're using one that is poorly made and creates electrical problems, there should be no need to replace it. A line conditioner is a good investment though.

Response to my post

Gentlemen,
Thank you! Doug- I purchased that very same power cord for my Jolida JD100 cd player! I think it made a little bit of a difference in terms of seperation but not a big difference. I did purchase the Monster "Reference PowerCenter HTS2000 MKII" I am using that now. And I noticed an improvement in the picuture on my TV. Soundwise the difference was smaller. I know a speaker repairman named Bill who plugs his amps directly into the wall, bypassing a line conditioner. I head one of his systems and it was phenomenal. Just wanteed to put that out there. Again thanks for the responses.

As far as plugging your Amps direct to the wall, you can do that with some high quality amps like Bryston that build good filtering and such into their power supply circuits, but many more reasonably priced amps don't have those kinds of high quality designs and need a line conditioner to perform optimally (and to protect them from spikes and surges).

Oh please..... this power cord thing is such nonsense. Stop and think about it. In the walls of your house the power goes through perhaps 75 feet of 50 cents a foot of romex before getting to the wall outlet, and you think adding 3 feet of expensive power cord from the outlet to your componets will change things? And what about all the electrical devices used at the studio recording and mixing the CD using regular power cords? And what about those crummy old cables on the telephone poles before getting to your house?

Good Point! I think I'll spend my money elsewhere.

I could not have said it better myself.
