 hey guys got some ?'s about a yamaha rx-v995. it powers up and then powers right back off, i had a buddy of mine take a look at it and he said he thinks it might be the main board. he works on this type of stuff for the military so i figure he knows what he's talking about, he said the main board would be like $150.00 or so.
1. is it worth fixing
2. its brand new condition, will anyone buy it for parts? (remote, front panel case, etc.)
3. any ideals?

Disconnect all speaker wire and cables (except power) from the back pannel.
If the unit still goes into shutdown, than it is definately an internal HW issue.

if its brand new, take it back and get a new one, if its not just some short in your wiring somewhere and not the receiver itself, go by the last post first and then you can narrow down what your problem is.

it shuts off right away with everything unpluged from the back panel. I got it from a customer who i installed a new unit for. she said she had someone put it in for her and within a few uses it had stopped working. she wasnt able to contact the original installers so we just gave her a new unit.
