Yamaha RX-V995 question

Anyone know what event or events kick in the cooling fan? It spins up briefly when first powered up but I haven't seen it kick in after that, even when I'm running it hot enough that a cooling fan would be a good thing.

The cooling fan will only run during sustained high power output such as when your cranking a multi channel music or movie disc or running continuous power measurement tests like I often do

If the fan isn't coming on you simply aren't taxing the unit enough to heat up for it to kick in.

Mines still kicking strong, relagated to the bedroom, but its beefy amps keep going.
