I have a Yami Rx-v750 AV Reciever and no remote. Is there any way to use a universal remote for it? Online the original one is $75:eek: I wouldn't like to spend the 75 bucks for a remote that old but I want to be able to control the Reciever without getting up. any suggestions on Universal remotes or somewhere to find the original one cheaper would be greatly appreciated. Any other options I'm overlooking?

Thanks in advance :)

remote solution

i also own a RXV750. Nice piece. I use a universal MX350 which may seem a bit pricey at $150 or whatever deal is available on the net, but beleive me when I say that once set up with some simple macros, you will become addicted. The macro feature allows a one button solution for on, off and input changes which is too cool. The basic functions of the original remote are there and there will be no issues as to whether they match up well or not. Its just great. I install HT for a living and this is all that I recommend for my clients.

Thanks, i'll definitely consider that remote but would still be willing to hear any other (cheaper:eek:) choices. lol

This for $80, though it's usually at $75 on avg, once low as $70 I believe.

You can get the remote by itself for $25 less, but I recommend you pay the $25 for the RF station. You now do not even have to point remote, in fact, you can hide your components as well.

However, the remote's batteries will die faster than you are used to, since it's always outputting RF + IR.

Anyone have anything to say about this one?

Now, I'm really torn. ANYone who can tell me which one of these three remotes would be best to use would be greatly appreciated. Anything one has over another?

Thanks guys
I know there are at least a couple of members who have that. I have what is pretty much perfectly identical to that, a 520, which is pretty much broken, well at least the play, volume, something else, the cheap paint is already wearing off, programming it was seriously pure hell for me and my purposes (I sometimes have to tweak often), and all in all, IMO, it's a total POS that's barely worth $20 as brand new. JMO. I hate that remote, but, other respected members here have it, enjoy it, no problems. YMMV.

I give the heartiest vote for the URC over the 520/550.

Thanks for the input.:) SO.... the URC MX350 or the RFS200 with the Powerblaster base??

MX350 from Amazon.

Hard buttons are better than LCD touch screens that you have to see to operate ... like I'm already watching a movie when I go to use it. I got it because it came highly recommended by one of our resident brainiacs. Jostenmeat is no slouch either.

I've been very happy with the MX350.

I am guessing the brainiac being referenced is MDS. Here are some partial quotes by him (I just searched under his handle, with keyword of RF-20) . . .

I'd second the vote for the RF-20. It is similar to the MX-350 I have but lacks assignable emitters (which is not an issue really unless you have multiple devices that all respond to the same code).
The URC RF-20 is about the best value out there in my opinion. I think that because I have a lot of experience with URC remotes and the RF-20 is nearly identical to the MX-350 I use but half the price. If you can get a remote that powerful and useful for $100 you should jump on it.
As is probably well known by now, I'm in the URC fan club. I have an MX-350 and the associated MRF-260 RF basestation. Together they cost a tad over $300.

The RF-20 with blaster does 90% of what the MX-350 combo can do at one third the price (it didn't exist when I bought my latest remote).

I know many people like some of the newer models (whether Harmony or URC) that have fancy graphics and icons and can control 60 pieces of AV equipment, but who needs all of that? It's like buying an expensive receiver with a zillion inputs when your HT system has 3 components. The RF-20 or MX-350 can already do more than is really necessary for most people.

To attest to the simplicity, I am now forced to watch TV with the TV speakers. The only thing worse than that of course, it to have to juggle multiple remotes. Since I had the TV commands programmed to the TV device, I just punched the TV volume commands to the Cable device so I don't have to go Main->TV->Volume->Main->Cable. Total elapsed time to make the change: 5 seconds. :)
